"The new 50% price cuts will help the P4 in the consumer desktop space where buyers are unaware of the issues."

The P4 needs all the help it can get by most accounts if motherboard orders out of Taiwan at 50% of target are any indicator...but it is not at all a given that INTC can repair the "P4 marketing" miscues that have already occurred...My guess is that we are very near the "crossover" point in ASP pricing of like performing processors, which, if true, means that even a 50% price cut (and the horrendous impact on gross margin) in P4 prices may not provide the boost in unit sales that INTC is seeking...More and more the 1 gig and up Athy is becoming the consumer's first choice and I suspect that the P4 may be destined to capture residual sales, or those sales when it is impossible, owing to excess demand, to obtain a Dresden Athy!!!

Well, the unaware buyer will quickly become aware when they try to ask for memory upgrades!
