I'm not sure about anything before the Sept downwave. But the bottom line is that it can be argued that the Sept '00-April '01 down has had 5 complete waves, which means it needs to be corrected. I don't know where this large down fits in the grand scheme of things but it looks to me like its over. Here is the structure (crudely).

I believe there is no violation here of any Elliot rules here although AA may want to check since I'm a neophyte. By the way, wave 3 doesn't have to be the longest, it can't be the shortest though.

This may prove wrong and Jan-April may just be the (3) as you say. We won't know which it is for a couple of weeks. Either way, from an EW perspective, buying the next dip is a good idea.
