KAZAKHSTAN STOCK EXCHANGE NEWS 13.04.01 KAZKOMMERTSBANK issues euronotes ($8.5 mln) to pay dividends for 2000 and intends to take large stake in Halyk Bank Kazakhstan To:Razorbak who wrote (1484) From: cooliemon Saturday, Dec 30, 2000 12:29 PM View Replies (2) \| Respond to of 1600 razor: nlg stands for nelson resources....nelson is owned 35% by kazkommertsbank and 35% by halyk savings bank... nelson recently obtained rights to a 50% interest in a +/- 600mil barrel oil deposit near aktobe(which seems to be where a lot of action is)....the most interesting thing about nelson is the closeness of the relationships of all the players involved...on the halyk side is the son in law of the president of the country, timur kulibayev(a distant relative of mine, before i came to america my name was spelled cooliebayev)...mr kulibayev just happens to run kaztransoil(the countries monopolistic pipeline company) and is said to be very influential in decisions made by CAIH(who happens to own 30% of hhla)...on the kazkommerts side are the two board members that are on hurricane's bod as well as being on nelson's board of dir.(alshinbaev(managing dir of kkb and subkhanberdin(chairman of the board of kkb)...being on the board of directors of both companies with oil interests in kazakh makes for interesting speculation...currently nelson is traded only on the toronto exchange, symbol t.nlg....now that kazakh has allowed all the foreign oil companies in the country to get the infrastructure up and running, i think kazakhis are now beginning to think it is their turn for some of their own nationals to benefit from the good fortune of what's under kazakhi soil....makes for a good story anyway....coolie To:cooliemon who wrote (1485) From: cooliemon Saturday, Dec 30, 2000 12:45 PM Respond to of 1600 razor: i do want to clarify that when i say halyk that means korinth investment(kulibayev is in charge) and when i say kazkommertsbank that means CAIH(central asia industrial holdings)(subkhanberdin and alshinbayev are in charge....coolie quite interesting that caih wants to take over hhla and then take a substantial interst in halyk....coolie
