The best way we could hurt China is to privately threaten them about the Olympics. The threat of a communication to the IOC that the U.S. would boycott any Olympic games held in China would certainly catch China's attention as this would kill their chances of getting their cherished Olympic bid.

Because Taiwan is a threat mostly militarily but also economically. Can China trust that Taiwan isn't secretly receiving advanced weaponry from the US? There is the issue of lingering animosity from the past too.

Hi Keith Monahan; I agree. The reason China isn't going to invade Taiwan is simple. China knows that eventually Taiwan will ask to join China. They both are very much aware that China is drifting towards a capitalistic democracy.
