EBays fees certainly have gone up! My average listing fee used to be $3.25, now it is $4.55. As a seller you have to list in the photo gallery for an additional 25 cents. I am also featuring more paintings because there are so many listings in each category you don't want your to be lost in the shuffle. Winter is also the best time to sell on eBay... many people are indoors. Summer is the worst time because many dealers are doing shows, and buyers are outside playing.

I think eBay Premier site will FLOP though. They allow you to list on their special guaranteed site and charge you 10% for it, but it is 10% of the hammer price plus the buyers premium, which is 10% of the hammer price. They are trying to tell sellers that sellers only pay eBay 1%, because the buyer is paying the 10% buyers premium. For example: A person bids $1000, they have to pay the seller the hammer price plus the 10% buyer premium = $1100. EBay then charges a 10% commission of $1100, taking $110 from the seller, leaving the seller with $990. They are trying to tell the seller this is only 1%, because it is only 1% of the hammer price. No matter how you look at it, the seller knows that they could have had more money in there pocket had they listed on the normal eBay site. They knew the buyer was willing to pay $1100. I don't know of any buyer that doesn't consider the extra 10% added on to the price!

As for the guarantee aspect of it. Anyone buying over eBay should have the right of return, and many many people operate this way. If someone doesn't allow returns or say it is AS IS, don't buy from them, they are scamming you.
