<<there's some OK tech info in there, but his [Michael Murphy's] stock advice is dangerous>>

I know a lot more about the semi industry than Michael Murphy does. Spent 16 years in it as a PhD R&D engineer. Trust me, at least in that area, Murphy's tech info and business info are also dangerous. As in bone-headed clueless.

One example: twice in his weekly letter last year he referred to the SEMI book2bill as if it was the number for finished chips, not equipment. Both times, the error was gross and blatant; not just some passing reference or confusing wording. He hung a whole discussion on his total misunderstanding.

Another example: I am very familiar with Synopsys, one of his favorite companies last year. I worked for direct competitors for years and had been offered jobs at SNPS. I read Murphy's analysis of SNPS, and it was clear he didn't have the slightest clue about the business SNPS is in, the competitive issues, the trends, or in fact anything of value. All of his analysis and advice bore zero relation to reality. And, surprise surprise, SNPS stock behaved almost exactly opposite to what Murphy predicted.
