OpusX:

Regarding Ensign, have you found a way to link specific charts so when you type a symbol they all change?
I also don't like the extra step of hitting "Ctrl S" to change symbols.

Heck of a learning curve,

Dominick

I pretty much agree with you. I've been "day" trading for almost one year now and am finding that I don't really use indicators to actually trade off of. I firstly want a good feed with reliable/accurate/timely data. As far as a program goes the 4 most important things to me are (1) the ability to easily change the time interaval on a chart, (2) link windows together so that when I change a symbol all the windows change with it, (3) a good level2 screen and (4) a good time/sales window. I just watch for support and resistance and wait to get in to a position at one of those areas or when a potential turn is being made for the day. The only indicator I'm using is the stochastics and the only reason I have it is to help remind me to wait for a setup. I was getting into trades too soon and it's been killing me so the stochastic is just a reminder to help me keep from getting caught up in the price and level 2 action. Now if I can just solve my current problem which is getting out of good entry points too soon. Anyway, thanks for the reply. I'll go ahead and give ensign a try.

For my own purposes, I will end up using Tradestation which I have used for a number of years; and Ensign.

I've been looking at Metastock a little closer and I think its a decent application, but the lack of flexibility in bar length (max 60 minutes) just is a stop dead problem for me.

For others it may not be. I think there is some sort of promo deal on Metastock now with Reuters EOD data for a lowish sounding price - 50$ or something like that - so that plus eSignal may make for a compelling combo for some.

But I will stick with TS and Ensign, I think.
