Just a small point -- racist thinking and behavior can and does originate from individuals of every conceivable ethic background. It literally means (to me) generalizing and denigrating another based on an that other person's ethnic background. Since it's the thinking and the actions that are racist, the originator's race is not part of the equation (but perhaps a characteristic of a much larger problem).

" there was no racism in my posts- if you had bothered to read the followups you'd have discovered that surprise, surprise, i'm not white. who would have thought!"

What difference does that make?

<<>got any racial slurs you want to hurl at me???
Are you white? Then I guess I'll call you a cracker.

*yawn* there was no racism in my posts- if you had bothered to read the followups you'd have discovered that surprise, surprise, i'm not white. who would have thought! >>

I don't even have to read between the lines. It is pretty obvious that you think that only white people are racists! From where I can see, that in itself is racism! May be you are right to claim that you are not a racist. But you definitely need to contain your urge to touch the touchy issues.

BTW, I have seen many Indians with racist attitude. Some fair skinned northern Indians take pride in calling themselves Aryans. In their belief they, like the Nazi's , are of some superior descent. As far as possible, they disassociate themselves with dravidians, who (according to them) are the dark skinned south Indians.

Here in this country, I know of internal divide among black people. May be Coby can shed some light on the right term for this kind of covert seggregation. There is a book, written by a black man himself, on this internal divide. Why do some black elite clubs treat Bryant Gumble as one of their own and not Bill Cosby? It is the skin color, my friend.

Whether you accept it or not, all these attitudes come under "racism" - even if they have not done anything to hurt the people of other "color."

Calling Indians "dot" people, Japanese "Japs" Canadians "Canuks" Americans "Yankees" may not be acceptable, but I do not think that it is racism. But if you form organizations like "Dot busters" and call for organized violence against these, that is racism. All, in my viewpoint - of course!
