With regard to the FCC decision, nice discussion, I think the logic of yours and Jim's analysis is right on. Because the FCC decision makes no sense, it leaves the suspicion that either one, or a group of American companies got to the commission. A lengthy delay of approval for OFDM in the 2.4 Ghz spectrum would supposedly give them a chance to develop their versions. When or if OFDM for 2.4Ghz finally gets approval, it will be interesting to see how soon thereafter some American company has OFDM product for this spectrum.

Late edit. Does OFDM have approval for use in the unlicensed 5 Ghz band in the States?
That question shows how much I know!
