I can imagine what the Chinese leadership heard from their military about the spy plane. The surviving fighter pilot undoubtedly told them that he saw the U.S. aircraft bank sharply, and his buddy's plane fell into pieces in the sea. Emotions are running hard, now is the time to be understanding, and to pour oil on water, but not to light it. Carl, that is nothing but a fairy tale. The accounts make clear that the Chinese have been filling the air with lies and that they held our people for 11 days so they could continue to do so. Not to call them on it is pure cowardice. It legitimizes a corrupt and illegitimate government and demoralizes its opponents. It's dishonorable and completely unworthy of a people who enjoy freedom of the press.
