I am in good shape with my house. My grandparents built this house originally. Grandpa had a surveyor come out and mark the 100 year flood line and then had him stake a spot 3' higher then that for the close edge of our walk out basement. Puts me 100 yards from the river but at least I don't have to worry about a basement full of mud! Our sports club goes down to Durand every year and helps 1 day with sand bagging. I don't know why we bother since they built the down town area about 2 feet above the low water mark but I guess it is good exercise.
