The resolution of the EP3 incident is an unmitigated and undeniable US foreign policy win for the US and the Bush team.

For sure !! Immediately stand in front of the cameras and demand the return of the crew and the airplane that is the sovereign property of the US of A.

Then 10 days later get down and kow-tow to the Chinese -- very sorry, very sorry -- to get the crew back. The plane is still sitting.

The whole world now knows that Smirk is an arrogant twit that backs down when confronted. As they say in Texas: Big hat, no cattle.

"Barely had the crew of the downed US Navy reconnaissence aircraft touched down in Washington state today when Republican leaders opened a barrage of criticism at President Clinton's handling of the incident. Allowing a letter to be offerred that permitted the Chinese to play an apology to the Chinese people and not achieving any guarantees regarding the aircraft itself was seen as a sign of weakness. Conservative talk-show hosts such as Rush Limbaugh and Michael Savage accused Clinton of giving away even more US military secrets, further claiming that the resolution of the incident has Hilary's nefarious handwriting all over it."

It appears the Democrats are the ones playing nice on this one.
