Detour Dan, re: Re: But ain't nobody seein' 'em !!! [Palamino]

Your reply to Paul's post was a diatribe, but didn't endeavor to address the topic:

Where are those mobile Athlons that we first heard about when we were at Computex years ago?
And where is this famous Palomino core that is going to knock the socks off anything Chipzilla pushes out the door?
The mobile Athlons, as we reported in Another Place some months ago, were facing difficult build problems and the ODMs (that is, the Taiwanese manufacturers who make the faceless notebooks which later get the logos) also had some difficulties, particularly with heat dissipation and chassis.
Still, when we asked AMD this question only a month or so ago, we were under the definite impression that pretty soon we'd see some units with mobile Athlons in 'em.
We haven't seen any... Dear readers, have you?

Blow Hard Dan - Re: "Just dumb luck that Intel blew it with both P4 and Itanic. Who would have expected that not one, but two, huge Intel development efforts would both be such disappointments?"

Intel's Pentium 4 is outselling AMD's non-existent PaloMeatHead by a WIDE MARGIN.

As for Intel's ITanium - why does AMD now list the END of 2002 for their 64 bit CPU poroduction?

Paul

Blow Hartd Dan - Re: "It's a tough time for Intel to have to spend $6 Billion on all new FABs, but they have no choice since their existing plant can't compete with AMD's. "

You are still a complete FOOL - Intel's existing plants are producing 1.5 and 1.7 GHz Pentium 4's - and AMD can't get beyond 1.33 GHz AthWipers that require an expensive Copper process.

Thanks again for showing us all that you are still CLUELESS.

Paul
