I agree that will be a big influence on the casual "undecided" vote, that has been confused badly in recent years by both excessive media exposure, and a passionate media campaign to get them to vote Clinton/Gore...

"This is no longer the case and in 2004 I'd suspect that the vast majority will see honesty, decency and competence and give President Bush a landslide."

The ballot war in Florida guaranteed that this will not be the case. However, it will not be honesty and decency that will win or lose the campaign. If this were the case, Jimmy Carter would have gotten reelected. Competence might win the day, if he actually demonstrates it.

"Fortunately", Greenspan's moves to sabotage the economy in order to oust the Democrats has proven far more effective than he imagined. There is a good chance that the economy will be in even worse shape when Junior runs for reelection than it was when Senior ran for reelection. If so, the Democrats will be recycling their cry of, "It's the economy stupid." and win the day. People have a short memory and will quite rightly (since it was caused by Greenspan's deliberate sabotage), not remember that the downturn started on the Democratic watch.
