I give Bush and his people credit for working out a rhetoric deal with the Chinese. You release first then we'll apologize. Very Solomon like. I never said Bush's people don't know how to manage the military. A military crisis is a non-partisan issue anyway. Gore's military budget was greater than Bush's if you'll recall. And he was a vet while Bush and Cheney were both evaders. Not that I blame them. Actuyally aside from the energy vs. environment business I'm not anti-Bush. It's just that he has made this such a growing issue that it overshadows anything else he might do. And will cost us all more than anything positive he might do. But by the way, Bush and the Pentagon did blow it at first by misjudging Chinese psychology and offering no conciliatory rhetoric at all. Though it could have been lost in the translation.
