Wally: Re: " My guess is that this type of forecast (0n Intel earnings} coupled with the expected deluge of poor earnings pouring out next week portend a gloomy short-term market forecast. Or do you think such negativism may already be priced in to the market?"

Hard to say as the actual reports are more negative than anticipated through preannouncements but the market has bounced from an oversold state regardless. How oversold is the market? Well, we rallied in the face of China "detaining" our military personnel. We rallied when Dell said they were going to make estimates. We rallied hard when some analyst said it was so bad in semi land that it could not get worse. Not much good news there but we rallied anyway. So this bounce may have some staying power but I think it bounces on a short leash after this week.

With respect to INTC, I would follow what Ashok Kumar has to say. I suspect the Street will pay more attention to him than most.
