Anybody know if XP was compiled/optimized with the P4 in mind. It would seem a good starting point for Intel to try to convince Microsoft to do that.

You are dreaming up your powerful combinations and it will cost you mucho $$$. Windows (including XP) run on AMD chips, lest you forgot.

Intel has failing P4 and IA-64 designs and they have to throw out all their existing FABs to move to 130nm copper. This is a powerful combination for a business failure indeed.
