"..1xtreme and HDR with voice added are attempts to use a broadaxe and slash off the QCOM family jewels (read IPR)by modifying the standard..."
----------

QCOM has nothing to fear from 1xtreme.

1xtreme is a variant of Q's HDR - fundamentally reliant on Q's essential IP.

Within 3GPP2 1xevdv deliberations, Q was initially content for 1xtreme to form the foundation technology for 1xevdv - until it became clear that it could not meet performance specification requirements. Only then, late in the game, Q submitted its own proposal (now known as the LQS (+L+L) proposal).

Similarly, QCOM has nothing to fear from HSDPA in 3GPP. Just as Q's cdma radio interface IP is safely maintained within UMTS/wCDMA standard specifications, so will Q's high data rate IP rest comfortably within HSDPA/UTRA. Such is the nature of essential IP.....

Further, "HDR with voice added" is called 1xevdv within 3GPP2 - or in 3GPP lexicon, UTRA. Neither threatens the primacy of Q's essential high data rate IP.
