Calling someone who you don't agree with or know "small vacant" shows only your own blindness to any side of any argument other than your own. Your inability to comprehend balanced facts. You talk about the beauty of nature yet support increased pollution and exploitation of nature at the same time.

Ought to start listening to something other than partisan spin. I do. And I know that sometime we are all hypocrites and that will never be a perfect world. Compromises must always be made. Don't be a sheep blindly loyal to one party or candidate. Listen and learn from both sides of the argument. And know when imbalances need to be corrected.
When you can see both sides of the picture with more clarity then you you will have a balanced perspective and won't need to resort to insults and name-calling (which are meaningless anyway).

I recognize the need for energy and some necessary evil of pollution. I too pollute, though as little as I can. But when we brand everything one party does as good or evil we are the ones being fooled. I am no blind supporter of Dems or anyone else. And I like McCain a great deal. But I do have my priorities and #1 and #2 are protection of our environment and campaign finance reform. On these issues I am of the majority opinion.

Republicans since Teddy Roosevelt used to care about the environment to a degree but don't seem to anymore. And now that the old boy Oil Patch Texas types have taken over your party is in a seriously imbalanced condition. If you can't see the danger of two former heads of oil companies running our country and another former pesticide salesman from Texan running much of congress, and if that doesn't concern you just a little at least, then you don't care much for the checks and balances which are best for our system. They have so much power now to manipulate this energy crisis (and prices) to their advantage that it should be of serious concern to all of us. And their first actions in office prove what their real agenda is. Not an energy "policy" but a grand gouging of consumers and a sharp increase in allowable pollution and exploitation of the environment. If you don't care about those issues fine but they are serious to me and millions of others from different parties. Again, get rid of soft money and you've solved half the problem. Money in this case is at the root of that evil. Ebemn the politicians admit they are addicted to it and must have more and more to compete. So if you can criticize Clinton for taking money from Denise Rich then doing her husband a favor, then you should be criticizing B-C from taking money from all the polluters and doing them much bigger and much more costly (to us all) favors. You can trust Big Oil and Power all you like but let's face it they are not the nicest people in the world, especially when it comes to matters of your air, water and environment and they could care less about your family's health. In fact, the more they pollute the more money they make. So it is their job to soil our natural resources. Public concern and environmental policies have kept them in check for awhile but now they're back "in charge" big-time. And therein lies the danger. Therefore, before you trust that they are doing the right thing, and believe their spin, educate yourslf more on the subject from both sides. Even go to the Sierra Club web-site and read. And also remember why our government has check and balances, and what happens when you remove them. Power corrupts but absolute power corrupts absolutely. I feared this would happen, and now it's already worse than I feared. I was naive enough to trust that Bush was a moderate on the environment as he promised he was. Not. He lied. And now we see his true colors. Truly, I have never seen a president more bought and paid for by one lobby group in my life-time. But it makes sense because he and Cheney ARE that lobby group as well.

Let's hope people put the heat on them and that the Senate stops some of his more Big Oil-friendly initiatives. Let's also hope for campaign finance reform and let's vote anyone wyho opposes it out of office regardless of party affiliation. B-C and Big Oil aren't cleaning up Washington, they're taking it hostage. But we can stop them or at least check them, if we really care and really try.

<<while you were ranting I was just splitting some wood for next winter. One way or the other most of the carbon will be carbon dioxide. But my way saves some natural gas and keeps the house quite warm. All my neighbors smell stinky air downwind. >>

One of the nicest things about the first cool days of Autumn is the smell of wood burning in fireplaces.

That wood releases the same elements whether you burn it in heater or it rots in the ground. Matter can not be created or destroyed. Compounds can be broken down and made but the same elements are still there.
