Well, if we are/were in cultural decline, it ain't all bad. Without it, we wouldn't reach the point of decadence. Not in the morally bankrupt sense of the word, but in the sense that we've reached a period where the arts and other institutions are exhausted, everything has been run through. I think we've reached that point. It should be an active time, full of possibilities.
