Richard, your statement may apply to someone who wants to buy a stock and hold it for years and years and not have to check it more than quarterly. Not too many people are investing this was anymore-- the evidence is in the volatility-- and I'm talking about nearly all stocks. Let's be adults and talk about PLMD for what it is and what we both perceive it to be: a trading vehicle. As such we're always interested in risk versus reward in a short time frame. Now, I don't hold stocks overnight, but I do respect the trend on a daily chart and that tells me that PLMD is a better long trade than a short one. This may change with time, of course. But the bottom line has NOTHING to do with "other companies" not under any "cloud of...investigation." For a trader, FEW THINGS COULD BE BETTER than a possible FBI investigation of an otherwise very profitable, category-killing company in a (medical products) market that is only growing. What more could you ask for than a situation in which the bulls and bears are bound to slug it out and push the price all over the place? That spells opportunity to EVERYONE, but especially to short-term traders. If you prefer the short position, you should be highlighting the very large short interest. Professionals don't normally take a huge position like that without plausible reasons. Unfortunately for us all, the short position information is released monthly and is always out-of-date by the time we get it, so it's hard to know at any particular time if the position is growing, or being covered. If you're looking to go long but you want a lower price, you can either wait for an inevitable pullback or (because the pullback you like may occur at a higher price than today's) you can relax and wait for the next downtrend and buy when THAT ends. Point being, your chances for success will be much improved if you let the opportunity arise in its own time.
