I am hoping that in the future the people who negotiate the contracts for SJT, HGT, and other royalty trusts will be a little more careful to take advantage of rising and spiking prices. The real specialist in this area is Kurt Wulff, if you haven't seen his web site:

mcdep.com

I heard him in a call-in conference expressing the same uneasiness that I feel, that the pipeline operators have been taking an inordinate share of the difference between the wellhead prices in the San Juan Basin and In the Permian Basin, and the California border prices. If the agents start playing a tougher game, we might see these trusts getting prices much closer to the final market price. It's certainly in their interest to do so, and in some cases thay have large shareholders who must be pressuring them to bargain harder for a fair share.
