gott "Why would anyone run both at the same time?" they wouldn't, and couldn't, and i don't read that the way you have interpreted it. "This utility, if running in the background, blocks the use of the Disk Defragmenter tool" this is an accurate statement, to me. although the use of the word 'background' is misleading, i think. they just as well could have left that word out. norton stuff always wants to take over these tasks from windows. they both compete for control. each knows the other is there. :) mark
