Now I understand you better. You never look at the mainstream press (as if New York Times is unreliable and Rush Limbaugh is) and stonewall any information or opinions left of Bill Kristol. You think Bush is a great President no matter what he does to the environment, how many fat cats he fattens further or how many campaign promises he breaks. You think it's fine the oil business is in control of our Administrative Branch. You don't like McCain because he threatens all that and is for cutting off the soft money and saving the democractic process. And you even have your own web-site filled with self-congratulatory "facts" which are skewed to the far right and frankly make little sense to me.

I have clearly wasted my time trying to debate with you and your gang on the right here but I have learned something too. I'm out of here for now and you can go back to preaching to the choir. I know now you guys actually LIKE the environment plundered, and the guy with the most soft money winning then taking care of his corporate supporters first and foremost. That is your right to believe in because it is a free country. I just couldn't disagree more.

That shouldn't be America but maybe I'm too idealistic sometimes. We're raised to believe that every voter counts and that this land is our land, but with all the soft money corrupting the system it's not the case now. It's just special interest big money in charge and he who can smooze the public into living in the most denial wins and gets to bend the rules. Still eventually the public catches on, or at least the moderates and swing voters who decide things, and I daresay your "great" President and his Congressional friends are going to be turning off enough of them to swing it the other way next time and in 2002. Still, I have grudging respect for Bush's Texas gang. They took advantage of a corruptible system and inspired their frustrated base. They clawed their way there despite losing the popular vote, so I guess you have to give them credit for putting up the fiercest fight. And the luck of having Nader there didn't hurt either.

I love this country and all for which it stands and just hope the eight years of peace and prosperity we just had can continue without too much damage, plundering and right-wing extremism.

Already the Senate is showing strength in terms of providing a certain degree of checks and balances so that's a relief. We won't turn into the nation of Attila The Hun yet. I wish you all a pleasant Easter and only ask you to re-open your minds a bit. There are a lot of excellent progressive thoughts, ideas and ideals on the other side as well which may benefit you and future generations much more than the ideas of the past. When you can see both sides with a balanced perspective you'll be doing yourselves and us all a service. Let's hope the future of American politics without soft money is a great deal more honest and democractic and that all sides and of the political spectrum are fairly represented.

In Bush's case it would be helpful for him to remember that he does not have a mandate and 55% or more may disagree with a lot of what he's planning to do to please his supporters and contributors on the right and especially in the oil business. I know he owes them big-time because they made him what he is but the more he tries to please them the more new critics and enemies he will also make.

By the people and for the people. Just remember that. Not for who gives the most soft money.
