chapq,

<< The root of the problem is people. They're trying to use it. >>

Been there done that in the wired world ... Unix shell accounts, slow modems, and high hourly usage charges before the Internet world gave way to GUI browsers, and the national ISP's pioneered service for the masses, while trying to figure out what people would pay.

Now we are in broadband land. 5% takeup in the US. Principle barriers are cost and ease of (initial) use.

Wireless wise, I've been trying to use data for some time. If this CDMA mobile had a 1xRTT chipset in it today, it would NOT increase my capability to use data effectively ... someday yes ... not today.

<< insane overpricing so practically nobody will use it and practically nobody will complain. >>

Any idea how tariffs for Cellnet's Blukite enabled corporate services stack up against the similar Blukite enabled corporate services from Sprint PCS? How many corporations and subs Sprint PCS has attracted? [I do not]

Hats off to Cellnet. They are pioneering wireless data, and have been doing so since long before CDMA was capable of data. Hats off to Sprint PCS. Doing the same thing since summer of 99. Progress is slow, and it's not just because of speed of data transmission, or cost of same.
