Ugly for Intel Yes, if this part is true "Rival Advanced Micro Devices Inc. on Wednesday will post first-quarter profit of 33 cents a share on sales of $1.13 billion, according to First Call. The Sunnyvale, California-based company is one of the few chipmakers that didn't further reduce expectations during the March quarter, though nine analysts have cut their estimates for the company in the past month.

Asian motherboard and chipset makers have reported stronger- than-expected demand for Advanced Micro's processors, though analysts say slowing flash-memory sales could crimp results.
