Of DOW JONES NEWSWIRES

NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--Adobe Systems Inc. (ADBE) could face a shortage of its
products because the company's sole U.S. software manufacturer recently
filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, according to documents submitted
Friday to the Securities and Exchange Commission.
In its quarterly report, Adobe said the manufacturer, which it didn't name,
has promised to continue operating and supplying Adobe. But Adobe added that
it is "exploring possible alternatives" and cannot guarantee it will have
enough software.
"There can be no assurance that it will continue operations at all or
sufficient to meet our needs, nor that we can establish alternative
arrangements in time to avoid serious harm to our business," Adobe states
in its filing.
The manufacturer is one of three that Adobe uses worldwide.
Officials at the San Jose company, best known for its Photoshop and Acrobat
titles, couldn't be immediately reached for comment.
