Since we are in the universe it obviously has our values in it, in us. But our values are so small, so chimerical, I can't understand how anyone would think the universe would be a very splendid thing if our natures were any more important than anything else, or if the things we conceive of as value were more indelibly etched there. The universe seems very splendid and full. It appears to be full of more things than we can imagine- since we keep discovering new things all the time. The "values" of the universe appear to me to be the laws of matter and energy. Since we don't know the half of what is going on, it seems to me there is a surfeit of value out there, and not sterility. I look at humans for humanity and to see human values. The universe is different, and like some people's conception of God, cannot (imo) be judged by humans in any way that is meaningful outside of human thought. We are simply too limited.
