Rambus and Denali Sign License Agreement; Denali Integrates Rambus' Memory Controller IP into Databahn -- Denali To Provide First Commercial Tool for Generating Custom RDRAM Memory Subsystems

PALO ALTO, Calif., Apr 16, 2001 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Denali Software Inc. today announced an agreement with Rambus Inc. (Nasdaq:RMBS). Under the terms of the agreement, Denali will integrate Rambus' RDRAM memory controller intellectual property (IP) into Databahn, an online tool for generating high-performance memory subsystems.

Denali will also maintain, extend, and deliver the controller IP to RDRAM customers.

"With this agreement, we're giving system designers a time to market advantage for integrating RDRAM memory subsystems," said Steve Chen, vice president of Rambus. "With their commitment to memory subsystem design and verification, Denali is a perfect partner for Rambus."

The availability of a configurable RDRAM memory controller will simplify the design-in process for system designers. For the first time, designers can use an online interface to specify their memory subsystem requirements and instantly generate the optimal memory controller IP for their system. While online, designers use Databahn to configure many features of their RDRAM memory subsystem, including command queue depth, address mapping, memory bank management, and automatic initialization. Databahn links to Denali's memory component database at www.eMemory.com to ensure compatibility with actual RDRAM memory devices.

Databahn optimizes the data access to and from RDRAM memory, so designers can quickly achieve the performance benefits offered by the RDRAM memory technology. Databahn ultimately speeds the process for creating and implementing high-performance RDRAM memory subsystems.
