"Sprint broadband has been ramping up their advertising in my area recently, however, so maybe they're overcoming some of their initial coverage problems when too many users got on board in an area too fast and slowed down the throughput speed"

I have Sprint broadband (San Jose CA). It was great at first, but the bandwidth has now been oversold. No surprise, that has happened with every internet access service ever rolled out.

Download speed varies from 100 to 5000 kbits/sec depending. Upload speeds suck; in recent weeks 3 to 80 kbits/sec depending on system load. 3 kbits/sec uplink makes even normal web surfing pretty sluggish.

Fortunately the slow times are in the evenings, when the market is closed.
