Your Cable will depend on how many others are riding on the line where as T1 will be consistent.

Myth. DSL lines are only exclusive until they reach the DSLAM at the CO then they all share the same line. DSL is set up as a star and cable as a loop. DSL is fast until the DSLAM becomes over-subscribed which it will at $40 a month. Even the guy working for Covad who set up my DSL line told me that. He said I was one of the first in the box and he said watch over the next year because it'll get slower and slower. Meanwhile my cable has remained robust and has even gotten faster after I finally tweaked the machine it was on.

I do agree with you about the SLA that come with T1 lines. But if the difference is $40/month vs. $700/month I think I'll take my chances. You can afford a lot of redundancy for $700/ month.
