Semantics is it, it's the way we abstract meaning from words. The fact you say you don't like it says volumes about your understanding of the political differences on this thread. Conservatives use the word fairness in reference to processes. Liberals use fairness and refer to results. Big difference, nearly religious in fact.

BTW the only thing Clinton would probably have done different from Bush is personal. Clinton would have been in the pictures and welcomes personally because that is his style. I wouldn't have objected necessarily. I think god and prayers would have been there and no one would have said a thing.

NY police hiring did not go up in the 90's and crime went down, probably more so than in any large metro area. Given the (your?) theory of more police contributing to lower crime, how does it explain this anomaly.
