I see why you lost your gains. You should really consider placing the remaining 100k into a CD.

but even henry ford realized that people who don't work can't buy his cars...so if technology takes us too far into that grey area where most people are no longer needed maybe there won't be enough people with enough disposable income to afford the technologies, thereby being that double edged sword and killing it. this country has shifted into low paying service jobs where once it was good paying manufacturing jobs. what's next? head of families fighting for the better street corners to run their shoe shine booths?

i don't know...just a passing thought.

Zen - I think you are missing the bigger picture.

"You have no *idea* just how powerful technology is and how much efficiency it can bring to business. ... 10 years from now, there will be few office workers left.... only technologists automating every aspect of their previous jobs"

No offense, but I'm sure the same sentence was uttered years ago after the invention of the gas powered engine. The point I think you are dicounting is that technology continues to evolve.

Cars have gotten a whole lot more complicated - Has your mechanic gotten smarter? Are there more of them today? As technology continues to evolve, sure it will continue to be a growth industry, but the advancements in technology will be in making it as easy to use as an everyday TOOL. Key point - technology is an enabler. B2B is a transaction action with logic. A tool, nothing more.

Successful technology will actually reduce the number of technologists needed. I'm sure CSCO will continue to evolve, but they seem to think they can do it with 8500 fewer technologists.

The big advancements will come in engineering, power generation, and genetics.

Just my opinion, BWDIK - I have not made 2.4 million in the market. (Haven't lost 2.3 either (VBG)).

Ahh, Geez. I heard the same thing in 1980 and every year since. They'll just go to more meetings.

I'll have to give you my vote for the ole' SI cheerleading award. Your spirit is remarkable.
You really need to go over to the AMAT board: Subject 588
. I believe that is where the last of the bulls are hanging out.

Back to this tech revolution. Did you see CY had ZERO $ orders (orders - cancelations)? I'm sure they'll be buying alot of AMAT equipment. Technology is great at making ZERO money and obsoleting your current product.

I'm afraid you are due for a good ole market spanking.

See you at SOX 300
