There was certainly some terse words from the wall street firms on the semi's today. VRTS in the warning rumor mill 15:22 ET Veritas Software (VRTS) 55.17 -5.53: Stock hit hard over past hour on the following: 1) JPM's cautionary call on SUNW/IBM, 2) talk that VRTS will borrow from deferred revenues to make current quarter numbers, and 3) rumor company will announce lay-offs when they report results after tomorrow's close... Current First Call estimate calls for quarterly earnings of $0.20 on revenues of $386 mln v. year-ago results of $0.12 on sales of $245 mln.
