Yes, this is the question. Since MPEG2 is already highly compressed, how are they getting an order of magnitude further compression without sacrificing something significant.

What ever happened to Digital Furnace (acquired by broadcom, but not a peep that I've seen since then)? They made big compression claims for cable plant, but from the claims made in the DigitalFountain article, digital fountain could extinguish digital furnace--unless it was mainly blowing a lot of hot air to start with<gg>.
