Joe: I don't know about 1.7 ghz, but 2 ghz may be interesting, because most likely, they will have to increase voltage to reach it on .18u.

Considering how much Intel has riding on the P4, it might make economic sense to do a re-layout of the .18mu. IMHO, the question is if they can afford _not_ to. They could probably slim it down a bit, as well as reduce heat dissipation. Of course, these things all take time and the question is when Intel realized, that the P4 would need to be ramped so massively.
