TC,

I think I have a handle on all but one. That is PCHEALTH which I believe is specific to WinMe since I have never heard of it before. It is a file called PCHSCHD.EXE which is located at \windows\pchealth\support and was scheduled to run every 10 minutes. I have no idea what it does other than collect data, but I don't know what for. I changed the time to every 60 minutes (max allowed), until I find out if I should let it run at all.

The other that ran every 5 minutes was Symantic Net Detect, which is live update. \programfiles\symantic\liveupdate\NTDETECT.EXE
I changed this to run at 9am every day.

The last one was Tune up application(\windows\system\walign) which I believe is scandisk and defrag if you want it done on an automatic basis. I disabled this one cause I do it about once a week anyway.

I had no idea I had all this junk running without me knowing it. If I hang around this thread long enough I might free up half of what is on my hard drive.<gg>

Sorry for the length of this tale of woe and thanks for any info you may have on PCHEALTH.

Bob
