Options volume on Dow Jones Index sets record on CBOE
CHICAGO, April 16 (Reuters) - Daily options volume on the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJX) index contract reached a record 106,346 contracts (50,568 calls and 55,778 puts) on April 12, the first time DJX volume exceeded 100,000 contracts in a single-day, the Chicago Board Options Exchange said on Monday.

Last Thursday's volume surpassed the previous record of 98,325 contracts set on March 22, 2001, the CBOE said.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average is a price-weighted index composed of 30 of the largest, most liquid NYSE and NASDAQ listed stocks.

DJX began trading exclusively at CBOE in October 1997.
