RE: CSCO >> OUCH.. We're getting closer to the bottom <<

Yes and No...CSCO is doing the smart thing taking inventory charges now. Getting the pain over with. However, they alluded to a global slowdown more than once in their report. The US started slowing down just 6 month ago and we're not at bottom. The global economy is just starting to slow down. I think we could get another 6-12 months of deteriorating fundamentals. From there it's anyone's guess on how fast we start to head back up, but given the debt loads I'll say it'll be slow.

CSCO notes...

Due to continued global economic challenges, the slowdown in the global telecom market, and the deceleration in corporate IT spending,

And this...

Cisco continues to see capital spending and macro-economic challenges expanding into other regions of the world. The United States continues to be challenging, especially in the enterprise and service provider areas of business. In Asia Pacific, Cisco is seeing weakness in Korea, Taiwan, Australia, and Japan. In Europe, Cisco is also experiencing weakness, primarily in the service provider market and in segments of the enterprise business.

We may very well rallying on this with the idea that the worst is behind us, but we still have no visibility and it could get a lot worse if the global slowdown turns into an outright global recession.
