>>Earnings likely to be closer to 0.47 B<<

pro forma. not real earnings. pro forma often excludes legitimate recurring expenses required to run a business.

you can bet that the 8500 in layoffs contains many with a "negative savings rate"...these high tech guys are the worst savers...cocky young types blowing everything they make at there jobs...no need to save when options are going to pay for retirement, current stock holdings were thought to be all one needed. It's sad..I was one of them. Lucky for me I saw the light, quit before getting laid off and sold out and went short.

It's sad...very sad...many of these high tech people getting canned all over have homes with big fat mortgages...housing market is the next to go...always lags the stock market by like 6-9 months. I finally sold my home last week......I think that bounce in the market helped to create some interest...i had piles of showing last week...out of the blue.

looks like actual earnings will wipe out the year. proforma will have to be lowered tomorrow by the dead fish analysts..

27-30 cents for the year proforma?

John,

"Earnings not 4.7 B... that's REVENUE 4.7 B
Earnings likely to be closer to 0.47 B
Inventory writedown will be a bite out of cash flow
Restructuring/layoff will be a charge under OPEX.

John. "

Will this inventory charge be minus'd from 4.7 B ?
