I would certainly agree with you that TAXES have nothing to do with educating. People educate. And I further agree with you that it is the PARENTS responsibility to educate their own.

So give them back their stinkin' money and let THEM decide how best to "educate".

You are correct. The teachers' unions, and democrats and republicans more interested in getting elected than doing the right thing, tell us the only thing holding schools back is that we aren't taxed enough.

Taxes have nothing to do with it, and are just another scapegoat for lazy adults to hide behind.

How do you put this "and a failure of the parents" at number three on your list for the reasons for our children's decline? Are the kid's buying their own tv's and junk food? I would put it at number one because if parents raised their kid's right the other stuff would not be a problem.
