""that technologists are expected to be 50% of the workforce very soon??""

Amazing what a triple migraine you can get from a simple configuration of a Microsoft 2000 server today. If this is a stellar example of an advanced marvel of simplicity (NOT) they should pay people to use it. Techno-junk designed by committee, and this wasn't even the advanced version.

""electronic ordering, bill payments, accounting automation, etc...""

Expect a rapid migration of these low-tier service jobs to 3rd world countries with lower overhead.

Want fries with that cheezeburger ???

Many people on this thread are not only keenly aware of exactly how good EIMS2000 is at his job, but profit directly from both his technological and trading expertise on a daily basis. Notice that not a soul has agreed with your gibes at EIMS2000, yet many have taken you to task for your flawed arguments.

And despite your claims to a wealthy store of economic knowledge, your specious arguments fall back to the "growth at any price model", completely disregarding DCF methods, or any other reasonable attempt at valuation.

With any luck, you'll be on the opposite side of EIMS' trades, with your blissful silence being the ultimate result.

Best Regards,

Amit

How right you are Zen,
We are indeed facing an enormous "crunch" as our workforce
is needed to shift from industrial to technological...

It's a bit of irony that people already working in tech fields
neglect to see the unique talent and training required for such an effort
is sorely lacking in the general populace.

We tend to take our tech ability for granted <g>

Aufwiedersehen,
Das

Keep my job? LOL, I own the company. That is how I will keep my job. That is Business 101. All I asked you is what year are you talking about when robots will do all the work? Except in Technology of course, where it will take 50% of us to keep that running. I guess no robots there. Actually, when you think of it, WHEN robots do come, I would think they would replace technology workers.

Taiwan Semicon Mfg 1Q Utilization Dn To Around 70%-Forbes

TAIPEI (Dow Jones)--Chipmaker Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSM)
saw its utilization rate slide to around 70% during the first quarter after
operating at full capacity during the previous three-month period, Forbes
Global magazine said Tuesday.
Utilization at the world's largest pure chip foundry will likely fall to
"very close to 50%" or slightly lower over coming months, TSMC's chairman
Morris Chang told the investment magazine.
Still, Chang said the worst is almost over for the semiconductor industry,
with the bottom likely to be reached in April or May.

"The recovery may not be a very swift and brisk one...but I do think that
the third quarter (of 2001) will be better than the second, and the fourth
will be better than the third," Forbes Global quoted Chang as saying.
