covered yesterday's shorts this morning. the fact that the naz futures were barely down on the CSCO news caused me to cover. the real short covering rally has begun as shorts have nowhere to hide now that bad news is good. wish I'd gone long instead of just covering, bought jnpr at 46.75, sebl at 32.36, ebay at 40.40 and chkp at 61.67. now i have to be patient and not jump back in too soon.

The CSCO news was no ordinary warning, and the fact that it is being ignored tells me the tech bubble is alive and well. love listening to all these analysts giving their profit estimates for 2002 like they have a clue. they all think they are so clever, "oh, we knew about csco, that's a good sign." meanwhile, stocks with P/E's over 100 will likely make less this year than last. sure csco has gone from 70 to 15, but it's still has a p/e over 40 and their earnings are contracting. a lot of whistling past the graveyard going on if you ask me. of course if you are a short term trader all this fundamental talk is irrelevant.

just have to wait a little longer and short again, don't like buying things after they have doubled in 2 weeks. my guess is April will play out like January, which was a 3 week rally. still going to play the downtrend until there is some news that the economy is improving. my guess is the rally will soon run into reality, and these analysts will again have egg on their faces. no matter though, they will still get paid and people will still listen to them.
