Hi Rinks,

I think that the management is right that market forces are pushing companies to adopt VxWork. The impact of this will show up in design wins and licensing revenue. Both were weak last quarter. The management said that it will give a better definition of "design win" in the future, which really dodged some tough questions from being raised. I hope that the management throws out design win all together, because it means absolutely nothing, no matter how it is defined. Developer seat growth means a lot more. We should calculated royalty per developer seat every quarter to get a rough estimate of how things are going. In fact, it maybe a better metric to use the latest royalty number, and divide it by the developer seat number from 5 quarters ago to see how things are going for the long term growth. This ratio tells us the quality of licensing, or how nicely are licensing turning into royalty. I use 5 quarters, because I think 5 quarters is a typical R&D-marketing cycle.

Regards,

Khan
