Good questions Joe - let me clarify a bit
1) Everybody using FC today is NOT on the wrong path. FC is wonderful for video editing, streaming and many other things. So is iSCSI. However, both technologies have to be configured properly. Not all FC RAID subsystems are appropriate for video, and you have to know what you are doing.

From an investment standpoint, if you consider this marketplace to be a leading factor in evaluating a certain hardware vendor, then you must first be aware that not all vendor products work well in video streaming. Just because a vendor has a FC product, does NOT mean that it is suitable for this marketplace.

A 3-second LIP because of a hardware problem would be unacceptable for a HDTV broadcast application, but may be suitable for certain video editing environments. I expect that many on this board were not aware of these things.

2) iSCSI & FC go hand in hand. In some areas they compete, in others they compliment each other. As an investor, I would shy away from FC fabric/switch companies which don't have a significant R&D effort into iSCSI. However, if I am investing in storage subsystem vendors, then iSCSI attach isn't that important, and whether or not storage vendors even need to do iSCSI is still being debated. They have to choose from iSCSI, 2/4/16 Gbit FC, and infiniband. Only sure thing is that 2GB FC is a must. But jury is not out on the other physical connection options.
