Also earnings guidence is falling faster then stock prices, which means despite huge move down, we have litlle valuation improvement. The only cure is much lower prices or better guidence. My hope is for the latter. The fact is I am not guessing here. In the low 40's id buy some Qcom calls and take a shot.

you make good point re gas prices; so far the consumer hasn't slowed spending, but shock to gas prices in the last week will be imho tremendous. dallas, it's up 15 cents; it was up 10 cents right before the weekend and another 5 cents yesterday; layoffs from NOK were small, but TXN announcement will make our locals think. on the other hand, the manager of my local clothing store reported very strong sales during the past month
