Building nuclear power plants along the San Andreas fault might be a really bad idea, if you live downwind (i.e. in the lower 48.)

We already have nuke plants here. And our seacoast areas which which are not high-priced real estate are all protected. Maybe they could expand the existing ones but I'm not sure what that entails. Probably 5-10 years by which time we could have the whole country running in Solar. Lotsa free sunshine out there. But don't expect Bush to support that. No, only oil coal and nukes for him, none of which anyone wants in the backyard and for good reason. Coal plants pollute for a hundred miles around, oil isn't much better and nukes - well - many say it's safe - until it isn't. And then you have Three Mile Island and Chernobyl. They can't guarantee total safety.
