In regard to SDRAM and DDR and RDRAM becoming SDRAMMEd in the future, I'm just too tired to go into this discussion right now. But the technical information is available and I may cover this in my next Fred Hager article.

But as for the screw driver shop catering to gamers. Those gamers will not be playing the latest cutting edge games using SDRAM by this time next year or perhaps by the end of the year. At a minimum they'll be using DDR, but DDR 200 so far has only shown a 10% improvement over existing SDRAM, and getting DDR266 to work will be an even greater chore than getting DDR200 to work (and its still unstable).
