Veritas Squeaks By Q1 Estimates, Lowers Year End Revenue Range (SEBL seemed weak too)

*was as high as $59 1/2 , now $55 1/2

Boston, Apr 17, 2001 (Midnight Trader via COMTEX) -- Veritas Software is
declining on 130,250 REDIBook shares after sqeaking by consensus estimates and
lowering its year end revenue outlook. The company reported revenue of $387
million, an increase of 58 percent over last year's quarter and on par with the
First Call consensus. EPS was $0.21 per share, up 75 percent over Q1 last year,
and a penny ahead of the First Call consensus. For the full year, Veritas said
it believes its prior guidance of 45 to 50 percent annual revenue growth is
attainable, but due to the current economic volatility the company set a new
range of 35 to 50 percent growth.
