Predatory lending is one of the oldest scams around. It's like borrowing money from the Mafia - if all you can pay is the vig, you never pay down the principle. Ever heard of the term "usery"? Same difference. Subprime lending pays about three times what prime lending pays. Even if you write off a lot of it, you're still ahead, and the market is huge.
